Happy Birthday, Max!

This Birthday banner is a tradition at the Charnow's. There's a huge wad of tape at either end from all the usage.

A specical request under the sea painting for Max, by me.

Look at that Lizzard! Sam and Erin gave max an awesome new powerful lens for his camera. He spent alot of the day testing it out and getting cool shots.

Like a hummingbird- feeding!

There's that pretty hummingbird again

Testing out the new lens. Best present ever, from Sam and Erin.

The special Birthday Tequila. A very appropriate present for a 21st birthday. Thanks for the shots, Bill!

Let's try some bubbles!
Yummy? You betcha.
Action shot
Ruby+ bubbles+ Jager= all kinds of fun!

Hula Time!

Erin's grandma, Christinia, (AKA G ma) is a pretty amazing lady. She's the most spry 91-year-old EVER! She paints and drives, and teaches hula classes at the Carlsbad senior center. Dude, I can't even drive! Anyway, even though I'm a few years shy of being a 50+ citizen, she used her athourity to allow me to attend a beginners hula class.
It was such a good time!
I learned the basic steps, and followed along as well as I could to the numbers that the ladies were rehearsing. It's such a graceful dance. Alot of the movements are very similar to spanish dancing because of the isolation of the hips. The precision and the gentleness of the movements reminds me of traditional Japanese dance.
I think i'm gonna join a class when I get back to NY! Anyone care to join me?

Look at all these lovely ladies

Aloha for now.

another day in cali

Besides planning things for the wedding, shopping for hours on end, getting sassed with the neighbors, and cooking delicious meals (both vegetarian and muy meaty), here are some pretty pictures from stuff we've been up to in the meantime!

The caterpillars just love the passionflower plants

passion flowers- aren't they amazing?

Bill's kids love Max! He's like a human jungle gym. Here's Charlie hanging out on Max' back, and little Ruby doing a flip over his arm. Her butt is really tan because she's in a phase where she dosn't like to wear clothes.

I've been painting! It's fun. This one is for Burger in Portland. I'll send it when I get around to going to the post office...

lovely wind chimes in the Charnow backyard

A painting for Marilyn, Bill's mother. Get this- she's actually paying me for it!

Another commissioned artwork for friends of Bill

A lovely little berry from Madalaine's garden

The moon is so shiny

Tiki man! Party hard!

The balloons! They come so close sometimes.

This balloon came right over the house today. We yelled "HELOOOO" at them, but the bastards ignored is. I KNOW YOU HEARD ME! Some people are just anti-social.

3-D art! (No, there isn't anything I'd rather do in my spare time!)

This one is for Rhonda. Happy birthday!

Until later,
- Morgan

Encinitas

A view from the Charnow's backyard

Madalaine, how does they garden grow?
By the way, this plant is called a "succulent"

another corner of the backyard

Is it time for the sass yet?
Of course! There's a pitcher (or what's left of a pitcher) of "Pink Panties" which is beer, pink lemonaide, and vodka. So delicious. You need adult supervision while consuming those bad babies.

Mosaics on the corners of the streets of downtown Encinitas

Windchimes at the bazaar. I bought one for Will for his garden. I'm not sure if he's following the blog, but if he's not, keep it hush hush!

Pictures from what may possibly one of my favorite stores of all time. It's called Coast Highway Traders. They had all this different ethnic stuff, including Indian and Mexican from Dia De Los Muertos.

Aye caramba!

All the trash cans have these cool paintings that the kids from the elementary schools did.

An awesome day on the town was completed with the infamous BillFest. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures ourselves of this righteous celebration of Bill 's (the Charnow's beloved neighbor) 40th birthday bash. But believe me, it was a ton of fun. There was a taco stand, a glass skull full of tequila, and two bands that Jesse Charnow played drums in.
